The Postpartum Revolution Road Trip will kick off in Washington, DC at The Angelika Pop-Up Film Center! This event will be curated around a screening of Angelina Spicer’s hilarious standup special and feature a panel discussion with local experts aimed to connect moms to care.
This stand-up special ain't the curated Instagram version of being a mama – it’s the truth, the pain, and the funny! Angelina takes the audience on a wild ride of her unexpected journey into motherhood. Spicer has always brought the laughter, but it wasn’t until she was committed to a psychiatric ward for postpartum depression that she realized her own story would be the ultimate punchline and catalyst for change.
Each screening will be followed by a live Q&A with a panel of survivors, birth workers, and members of the medical community. Cameras will follow along in each city documenting meetings with policy makers as Angelina works to have the laws she helped pass in California become similar laws in states across the country. This event will engage with the medical community along with researchers and birth workers to uncover what more can be done for the 1 in 5 women who develop postpartum depression.
